Meta One for business: should you pay for Facebook and Instagram?

Meta One for business: should you pay for Facebook and Instagram?
Short answer: Meta One is a set of paid plans for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta AI, launched on 15 September 2026. Business plans start from $14.99 a month in Meta’s announcement, with links in organic posts on the higher Advanced plan. The basic apps stay free, and the plans don’t change how your ads are delivered. Most small businesses don’t need it yet. Check your own link posting limits and Facebook traffic first.

What is Meta One?

Meta One is Meta’s subscription family. Meta announced it on 15 September 2026 in its Meta One newsroom post. It covers Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI, with more products to follow.

Meta says the core features of its apps stay free. The paid plans add extra tools on top. There are plans for individuals and separate plans for creators and businesses.

How much does Meta One cost for a business?

Meta’s announcement lists these starting prices for creator and business plans. They’re shown in US dollars, and Meta says pricing, benefits and availability may vary by region, app and account.

PlanStarting price (Meta’s announcement)Main extras
EssentialFrom $14.99 a monthVerified badge, verified WhatsApp Business channel, impersonation protection, more WhatsApp Business Agent replies
AdvancedFrom $49.99 a monthLinks in organic posts and reels, Story scheduling up to 30 days, exportable analytics, team access
ExpertFrom $149 a monthHigher limits, aimed at teams
MaxFrom $499 a monthHighest limits, aimed at teams managing at scale

All business plans also get an enhanced profile showing your website, locations and what people say about you, plus a bold follow button on reels. Check the price inside your own account before deciding, as UK pricing may differ.

Is Facebook limiting link posts for business Pages?

For some Pages, yes, as a test. Press Gazette reported in December 2025 that Meta was testing a cap of two organic link posts a month for some business and creator accounts. Affected users were told to subscribe to Meta Verified to share more links.

The same report said links in comments, affiliate links and links to Instagram and WhatsApp were not restricted. Links in paid ads aren’t affected either.

Meta hasn’t published a fixed cap for all free Pages. As web agency Webleveling points out in its breakdown of what changed, the two-link limit is a reported test, not a published rule. The link benefit is listed on Meta One’s Advanced plan, so the two are clearly connected.

Does paying for Meta One help my ads?

No. The plans cover your organic presence and support, not ad delivery. A summary of Meta’s October 2026 updates by Digital 24 notes that the plan pages don’t mention ad accounts or ad delivery.

So if you run Facebook ads, paying for Meta One won’t make them cheaper or reach more people. Your ad budget and your creative still do that job.

Who should pay for Meta One?

It depends on how much work Facebook and Instagram actually bring you. Here’s a simple guide:

Your situationOur view
You get few website visits from FacebookDon’t pay. Put the effort into Google instead
People impersonate your business on FacebookEssential may be worth it for the verified badge and protection
You run busy WhatsApp enquiriesEssential’s extra Business Agent replies could save time
Your Page posts links weekly and you’ve hit the limitCompare Advanced against using comments and Stories for links
A team runs your accountsAdvanced adds team access without sharing passwords

Before you sign up, open Google Analytics and check how many visits and enquiries came from Facebook and Instagram in the last 30 days. If the answer is “hardly any”, a monthly fee won’t change much.

How can you share links on Facebook without paying?

There are free routes that still work, based on what the Press Gazette report said wasn’t restricted:

  1. Post the photo or video, then add the link in the first comment.
  2. Keep your website in your Page details and use the action button.
  3. Link to your WhatsApp Business chat, which wasn’t restricted in the test.
  4. Save your two link posts for things that matter, like a new service page or offer.
  5. Use reels to build interest and send people to your Google profile to book.

The bigger lesson is not to depend on one platform you don’t control. A good website and a strong Google profile keep working however Meta changes its rules. Our video marketing guide for trades shows how to reuse one job video across Facebook, Instagram and Google.

How do I check if my Facebook Page is limited?

Try it. Meta hasn’t published one rule for every Page, so the only reliable check is what your own account shows. Webleveling’s advice is sensible: keep posting links while your composer allows them and screenshot any limit message or Meta One prompt you see.

  • Open your Page and start a new post with a link to your website.
  • Look for any message about link limits or an offer to subscribe.
  • Check your subscription screen for the real UK price, rather than prices in news stories.
  • Note how many link posts you’ve made this month, so you know where you stand.

If you do hit a limit, don’t panic. A photo post with the link in the first comment still gets your work in front of people, and your website link stays in your Page details.

What else changed on Meta this autumn?

  • Instagram started rolling out live video ads from the end of September 2026, according to Digital 24.
  • Threads ads no longer need a matching Instagram profile.
  • Meta is testing AI-generated landing pages in a small share of ads where the AI option is switched on. Check your ad settings if you want people sent to your own website.

If you’d rather not keep up with every change yourself, our social media marketing team can run your accounts and our video editing service can turn your site clips into reels.
